Presentation

Take part in this unusual activity, learn how to make a loaf of traditional rye bread and bake it in a village oven

Rye bread, an ancient tradition...
In Valais, rye has been grown for centuries and making rye bread is one of the most ancestral regional traditions.
This region with its mountains and extreme temperatures offers good conditions to rye. In the past, the inhabitants used to keep the rye bread for several months: the village's oven was lit 2 or 3 times a year to bake their stock of bread.

Nowadays, you can experience this tradition by taking part in the "Making rye bread" activity organized in St-Luc and Grimentz

The activity takes place as follows :

1. Explanation
